Add some randomness to your life

Update 7-2-2009 - added uniform scaling options per Mr. Villabon's request.
Here is a simple MEL script I wrote called Tater. Tater is a random transform (rotate, scale, translate) Tool. Just pick the Axis u want and the type of transform and Tater does the work for you.
Update 10-8-2011 - Script is broken in Maya 2011 and 2012 do to some changes in the way MEL handles UIs. I will be updating the script soon.

  1. Hi Max,

Thanks very much for your helpful tutorials and for writing this neat little script. I would really like to use it, but I am hitting a small hitch:

When I load mdTater.mel in Maya, I receive this error: // Error: Controls must have a layout. No layout found in window : //

Perhaps this is because I am on Mac OSX with Maya 2011 whereas it looks like you are on Windows with Maya 2009 from the look of that screenshot.

Here is to hoping you will update your script!

    Thanks

  2. Thanks for letting me know. I dont have a mac or 2011 but I will see if i cant get the problem solved and I'll email you if / when I do. One thing you can do is use bonus tools and layout tools from auto desk area... Layout tools has similar features to this script.
